This can exclude women from opportunities for economic gains or access to decent work. Heavy and unequal care responsibilities can also negatively affect women’s health, access to…See More

WEEinAg Knowledge Hub Launch at Nairobi

November 9, 2015 to November 13, 2015
The event, jointly held by the Women’s Economic Empowerment in Agriculture Knowledge Hub and the HECA Regional Centre, was a great opportunity to develop joint ownership of the Hub amongst practitioners across the Confederation and discuss our ways of working together as a network in order take our work on WEE further as One Oxfam. It also provided a common understanding of where Oxfam’s work on WEE in Ag currently stands across the confederation, and created a foundation for future joint work…See More

DFID and Oxfam Roundtable on Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) at DFID office

October 15, 2014 all day
DFID and Oxfam held a roundtable on WEE on October 15 with participants from a wide range of organisations; such as the World Bank, corporations (Unilever, Tesco and others); NGOs (Care, Action Aid and others), and academic institutions. We succeeded in gaining a strong consensus on our position which is that: (i) economic interventions alone are not enough for women to be economically empowered, it must be complemented by broader social interventions to address the structural barriers to…See More

Webinar on Adaptive Management at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/effective-adaptive-management-in-development-online-webinar-tickets-13775437705

December 10, 2014 from 1pm to 2pm
Development is a complex task. Creating systemic change, working with local partners, and facilitating behaviour change are particularly complex activities. This means there is limited predictability as to the results of an intervention, experimentation is a must, and strategies must evolve over time in response to the local environment. As such, development actors are increasingly agreeing that managing programmes adaptively can improve their effectiveness. A growing body of evidence supports…See More

It is glad to know about you. I am working for the organization named Padma Research & Development Organization. Padma is a social development organization based in the south west region of Bangladesh which provides access to agricultural and market information through an ICT-enabled knowledge brokering system for marginalized farming communities especially women to improve their livelihoods. The system provides knowledge and global best-practice to rural entrepreneurs in an easy-to-understand local language format, assisting farming communities to manage their resources in a sustainable way. As a result, farmers at the grassroots level are able to form links with national and global expertise while emphasizing local development needs.
