Systematic discrimination against women and girls is both a cause and a result of the inequality that drives poverty. It can be exacerbated by class, ethnicity and age, as well as religious and other fundamentalism. Oxfam works to ensure poor and marginalized women will claim and advance their rights through the engagement and leadership of women and their organizations; and violence against women is significantly less socially acceptable and prevalent.
You will play a key role in the Global Campaigns and Policy team, working with policy experts in the UK and across Oxfam’s campaigns to develop policy and identify opportunities to promote gender equality and the realisation of women’s human rights. You will be responsible for leading on advocacy and policy projects, as well as supporting the team with research and analysis across a range of policy areas. You will give advice and analysis on key policy developments, particularly in relation to women’s economic inequality, and help to communicate complex policy issues both internally and externally to build support for our campaigning and advocacy work. You will work hand in hand with policy advisors here in the UK, and with our Oxfam colleagues around the world, to support national and global advocacy and campaigning. The work you do will play a key role in ensuring our advocacy, campaign and media is at its most strategic in tackling the root causes of gender inequality.
