Event Description

UN Women, WIPO and UNESCO cordially invites you to participate in a global e-discussion from 24 April - 5 May 2017 on EmpowerWomen.org.
On the International Girls in ICT Day 2017 they will host a webinar on this topic - "Science-Technology-Innovation:Closing the Gender Gap to Meet the SDGs".

The Sustainable Development Goals represent the commitment of Member States and others in the global community to achieve social, economic and environmental justice for a sustainable world. Advancement of gender equality, and equitable science, technology and innovation (STI) are explicit objectives under several of the SDGs, but they also underpin all of them.

In March, UN Women, WIPO and UNESCO co-organized an Expert Group Meeting where we looked at these linkages in the context of possible future scenarios (see background note), and gleaned a number of insights on potential trends, challenges and opportunities around gender and STI.

The organisers are inviting you to reflect on and consider and respond to a set of questions identified during the expert group meeting and help us work with national governments and policy makers to better plan and develop strategies that respond to today’s challenges and realize a future in which gender equality and women's empowerment are at the center of STI.

How to participate
  • Step 2. Create a profile. You can register using your Facebook, Twitter account or email.
Have your say on promoting gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, especially in science, technology, engineering, arts and innovation fields!
